Guidelines for Visitors Attending Class During the School Day:

We welcome families and students to visit Farber Hebrew Day School. These visits assist students and their families in getting to know our school community and determining if the program is a good fit and also gives us the opportunity to get to know our applicants in the school setting. Students who visit also have an opportunity to connect socially with other students and learn more about the day to day activities of the school. Our faculty and students are eager to welcome your child for a visit and we are happy to provide a complimentary lunch for your child.

All families and students wishing to visit during regular school hours are asked to contact Linda Pedder at 248-386-1625 x305 to arrange for a mutually convenient shadowing time and begin the Admissions process. This visit does not guarantee acceptance. Parents are welcome to sit in on classes at a different time than their child’s shadow visit. By letting us know which grades/classes you wish to observe, we can confer with the appropriate teachers and offer an appointment time which will make the most of your visit.

Parents and students are asked to adhere to the basic requirements of Farber’s dress-code. Boys are asked to wear a solid, collared shirt with a sleeve length of mid-bicep or longer. Girls’ shirts do not need a collar, but the sleeves must extend to the elbow. Boys are required to wear solid pants (no jeans) and girls are required to wear a solid skirt or jumper that extends beyond the knee when sitting or standing (denim is not allowed). Students in 1st – 5th grade adhere to a uniform of navy blue bottoms and light blue shirts. While a visitor is not required to wear the elementary school colors, your child may feel more comfortable wearing the uniform. Boys must wear a kipah and tzitzit at all times. Our complete dress code is on our website under the “Student Life” tab and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have about it or any other components of your child’s visit.

If your child will be visiting for the day, please fill out the attached information sheet so we can contact you if the need arises. We hope that you and your child enjoy the visit to Farber!
