Farber Hebrew Day School is more than a school, it is a community. For over 50 years, Farber Hebrew Day School-Yeshivat Akiva, has served as the community’s pinnacle of Torah study and central gathering place for learning programs, Davening opportunities, holiday celebrations and special events.  Some of our staple community programs include:

Thursday Night Mishmar Learning

An evening of multi-generational Torah study in the Farber Hebrew Day School Beit Midrash held on Thursday evenings. Current Farber students along with faculty, parents, grandparents, alumni and other community members gather to learn Chavruta-style and enjoy delicious Thursday night Cholent.

Women’s Parsha Shiur

Tuesday mornings at Farber mean Women’s Parsha Class. Led by our Rosh Beit Midrash or Division Head Rabbi, the women of our community enjoy an insightful class and engaging discussion on the week’s Torah portion.

Davening & Donuts

Farber Hebrew Day School hosts Sunday Morning Shacharit services each week, followed by donuts for our students who attend the Minyan.

Yom Ha’atmaut Celebration

Perhaps the most exciting community event at Farber Hebrew Day School is our annual Yom Ha’atzmaut Celebration. Farber is Detroit’s premiere location to celebrate the independence of Midinat Yisroel with fellow community members. Students, parents, faculty, alumni and members from the entire metro-Detroit community gather to enjoy a festive dinner, music, dancing, student presentations and our annual student flag dance.
